Venus in Leo/ Śukra/ Shukra in Simha on 17th July, 2013

The great material benefic Venus/ Śukra/ Shukra transits to Leo/ Simha Rāśi/ Rashi on the evening of 17th July, 2013. While Leo is an inimical sign for Venus in Vedic astrology being ruled by the Sun which is not entirely aligned to the pursuit of beauty or luxury or pleasure, though as King He might have them all, Śukra/ Shukra is a great natural benefic in any Hindu horoscope and for any Lagna.

The transit chart showing the planetary positions exactly at the time of the entry of the planet Venus into Leo on 17th July, 2013 is given below-

Now, Venus might be transiting an inimical/ Śatru/ Shatru Rāśi/ Rashi as aforesaid but the movement of Venus is important nonetheless. It indicates a temporal shifting of focus as far as relationships and comforts are concerned. Venus is an important planet and it will depend on the lordship and placement in the natal horoscope as to the true nature of its impact on persons during the transit.

We have also seen that at the time of the transit of Venus into Leo, the transit Moon is also moving through Libra/ Tula/ Tulā Rāśi the Mūlatṛkoṇa Rāśi/ Moolatrikona Rashi of the planet Venus. So the Jala Grahas are connected in this manner.

Varga Gochara or the transit of the planets through the divisional charts is yet another aspect of Jyotisha/ Indian astrology which is to be kept in mind while attempting to understand the results. Further the ingress of the planet Venus into Leo furnishes a dominant and beneficial context to Śani and Rāhu/ Shani and Rahu in Tulā Rāśi/Tula Rashi/ Libra which would be very useful in addition to the impact being made by the 5th House aspect of Jupiter.

We must also note that this transit also coincides with the Karkaṭa Saṅkrāṅti/ Karkata Sankranti/ solar ingress into the sign Cancer. The things required for learning, refurbishing the home, getting the house in order, those needed to inculcate the feeling of happiness and Sukha are going to be important throughout the coming month. These developments show changes dominantly in the Jala Tattwa Graha and Rāśi/ Rashi.

A BRIEF LOOK AT THE TWELVE LAGNAS/ ASCENDANTS IN VEDIC ASTROLOGY

People are often curious at the beginning of their astrological quest, to know something of the various facets pertaining to their ‘chart’; in other words, they wish to evaluate the basic propensities pertaining to their Lagnas and their Rashi/ Lagna Kundalis (Kundalis). Also, the Chandra Lagna itself and Gochar furnish other popular areas of curiosity. Lagna is the sign rising on the Eastern horizon at the time of birth and is occupied by a Rāśi (Rashi)/ Vedic sign. The average duration of a sign rising in the Lagna/ Ascendant is two hours and for this reason the twelve Rāśis cover the twenty-four hours duration of the solar day. ( Basic Jyotiṣa principles can be accessed by clicking this link ) Lagna imbues a person with individuality and therefore denotes the self and the personality of the person. It is the first house or Bhāva of the chart and is the commencement point of any horoscopic study. We cannot forget that in all the divisional charts as well there is a Lagna/ asc

A METHODOLOGY FOR VEDIC CHART INTERPRETATION

The following is an attempt to lay down a general method to conduct professional chart analysis. It appears to have worked well for the author in his practice. Notably though, it need not be the best way to interpret charts and the astrologer must find her own way when it comes to developing a structure with which to unravel any given chart. Some of the more general features of interpretation are being omitted for fear of the paper becoming unwieldy but certain crucial aspects of Jyotish interpretation are being explained since these are not very widely used. The author is indebted to the works of Pt. Sanjay Rath, author, scholar and Jyotish Guru of Sri Jagannath Center. It is through assimilating the writings of Pt. Rath that the author has been able to progress from the fundamentals of Jyotish to a somewhat deeper understanding. ARUDHA PADAS: The houses as reckoned from the Lagna/ Ascendant reveal the truth about the native. This is metaphysical reality as distinguished from precipit
