Complimentary Extract from Premium Monthly Vedic Astrology Content-April, 2013 Issue

The following is a one-time extract for one of the signs from the Premium Monthly Vedic Astrology Content, available on an annual subscription basis, for the benefit of readers seeking a glimpse into the content. The depth of the extract shows that the Content is to be composed continually throuout the preceding month so as to complete the transit evaluation for not only the twelve signs/ Lagnas but almost for thirty-six signs since three references are being evaluated at the very least for each sign-the Lagna, the Rāśi (Rashi) and the Ārūḍha Lagna/ Arudha Lagna (AL).

Virgo/ Kanyā (Kanya)-

You would have noticed for the evaluations above for the signs Aries to Leo-Meṣa (Mesha) to Simha we have discussed the core focus of this content viz. what precisely does this month hold for you. Now you are astrologically educated, and astrological terminology is intricate and involved, but always read each word with the goal of applying the knowledge to you, and to your circumstances. The idea is simply to see how the transits of all the nine planets impact the various areas of your life. Of course, nothing can substitute for independent professional consulting work on the charts, but this is a good, focussed insight into your personal reality nonetheless. One should be able to glance at the in-depth delving into the transits relevant to the sign and be able to picture the trends as they emerge throughout the month.

To start with get this scheme right, because it is important in order for you to correctly decipher the results of the transits through this month. If Kanyā (Kanya) Lagna/ Virgo Ascendant is rising in the radix/ natal chart/ Rāśi Cakra (Rashi Chakra), the transits as described below after the initial introduction to the more standard facets of the sign, will apply directly to your personal realities and who you are as a human being. It will apply to your personal circumstances and where you are and how you have been living and understanding your reality. This is also referred to as Lagna Gochar or simply 'transits evaluated from the Lagna'. If Kanyā (Kanya) is your Moon sign or Jaṅma Rāśi (Janma Rashi), the transits will be directly relevant to your mind and to the social flow in your life. Most importantly, the access to opportunities is judged from here. If this sign is your Ārūḍha Lagna/ Arudha Lagna (AL) then the Gocara/ transit will reveal the impact on your finances and the way you are perceived by others, irrespective really of who you are before the mirror when you are shaving in the morning.

If two or more junctions coincide, then the effects will be all the more pronounced.

So, just as we have been doing for all the preceding signs thus far, we will evaluate the month from the perspective of the Virgo native. This expression 'Virgo native' has to be construed liberally as indicated above since it could mean a person born in the Virgo ascendant, or with the Moon in the sign Virgo/ Kanyā (Kanya) making this his Jaṅma Rāśi (Janma Rashi), or indeed with the Ārūḍha Lagna (Arudha Lagna/ AL) posited here and we could even judge the Sūrya/ Surya Lagna for the Veśī (Veshi) and Vośī (Voshi) Yogas which some of you are familiar with in context of the private work done by me on your charts. In a similar vein we can see the Adhi Yoga and the Sunaphā (Sunapha) and Anaphā (Anapha) Yogas.

You know you expect all the time, and you expect nothing less than complete perfection. You need to adhere carefully to detail and sometimes you forget to sift through information, and simply accumulate and gather it. You are governed by the planet Mercury and so you should strive to relax a little sometimes and be truly Mercurial, rather than being so driven and possessed all the time.

Why are you driven and possessed? There are two primary reasons for this-one, this is the sign which makes everybody go to work and so you can readily imagine your state of being when you happen to be governed by this sign; two, this sign contains goodies and that is something having an innate attraction for the beings on this planet. We cannot elaborate more than this at this juncture.

Take a look at the chart which is given above in the Monthly Content at other places. On the morning of April 1, 2013, this is the planetary position which is shown below-

We see that the month according to the Gregorian calendar starts with Gurū (Guru)/ Jupiter in Taurus/ Vṛṣabha/ Vrishabha. Being a slow Graha such transits remain common for months at end but when these are juxtaposed with the other transits including those of the faster moving planets, we can discern some important results for individuals. For the native of Kanyā/ Kanya Lagna, the 4th and 7th Lord is in the 9th House and if the Graha is well-placed and unafflicted in the nativity or/and is the Daśānātha (Dashanath)/ lord of the Daśā/ Dasha in any applicable Daśā scheme then you stand to have fortunate events in matters of home and immovable properties depending on the position of the various Kārakas/ Karakas including the Anitya Kāraka (Karaka) etc., and also a fortunate turn of events from marriage unless values have been an issue, in which latter contingency the behaviour patters of the spouse may go further awry.

For the natives of Kanyā Cañdra Rāśi (Kanya Chandra Rashi) , the mind will lean towards religion and spirituality and for those at the appropriate stages in their lives, foreign travel for higher education is an excellent idea at this time. Disciplines such as physics, finance and law are especially favoured if confirmed from the natal Siddhāmśa (Siddhamsha). So suppose you are in Canada and wish to pursue a specific discipline at a University abroad, this is an excellent time to do so.

For the Kanyā/ Kanya Lagna, passion runs high with Śukra (Shukra)/ Venus and Mars/ Maṅgala (Mangal) joined in the Saptama Bhāva (Bhava)/ 7th House from the Lagna. Rather than view the human attributes of the person, Kanyā (Kanya) Lagna might be getting swept in by lust. Be careful of these tendencies till the planets transiting the Saptama Bhāva exit. Firstly, very beautiful and evolved partners show up at this time, indiicated by the exalted Venus and Secondly, Virgo is not the best sign to indulge in blind physicality. It after all indicates virgins. Ravi in the 7th House is a red flag for those who suffer dubious health.

If it is only the natal Moon which is posited in Kanyā (Kanya), it is alright because it is only the mind which is veering towards blind sexuality. The Kanyā Ārūḍha (Kanya Arudha) Lagna really suffers due to the Pāpa Argalā (Papa Argala) or malefic intervention of Śani and Rāhu (Shani and Rahu) and this feature might continue for a while due to the slow moving nature of these planets. Those who are working in banking, trading houses, as stock brokers, dealers, businessmen, IT professionals and in other such areas indicated by Virgo and Mercury need to be very careful about their financial decisions. Savings and liquid assets may be severely depleted due to ignorance or misdirected spending/ lifestyle patterns. Now, ironically the transit of Gurū (Guru) in the 9th Bhāva (Bhava) from the Lagna is not as good for money coming in and the finances overflowing as it is for the other Ārūḍhas/ Arudhas. Now, mark this-the reason is that the Navama Bhāva (Bhava) from any Ārūḍha (Arudha) is extremely competitive and strives to the fullest to make the native compete with the others: Gurū (Guru) is not comfortable in this scenario. He would just rather give gently and unconditionally but this is not what this transit is about. So, do not be taken in by what appears to be a readymade situation for benefit at work and in business. What is most likely to happen in the work related and material realm is this-first you will struggle for a certain part of the Jupiter transit in Taurus for the Virgo AL and then finally success will come. These are middling results in the matter of how one is perceibed and how wealth flows for the person.

Right in the beginning of the month the positive results such as lucky breaks and general turns of good fortune are augmented by the formation of the Gajakeśarī Yoga (Gajakesari Yoga) in the 3-9 axis. There is a lot of intelligence about the way the native of the Kanyā (Kanya) Lagna proceeds this month and your decisions will hold you in good stead. Gurū (Guru/ Jupiter) aspects the Lagna with its 5th Bhāva aspect and the decisions taken will turn out to be beneficial in the future. This is also because the Lagneśa (Lagnesha) Budha/ Mercury is placed in the 6th Bhāva from the Lagna in Dhīmantaḥa (Dhimantah) Yoga in transit. There will be a tendency to research and think things through before they are accepted.

Finances are a real struggle at this time for the natives of Virgo Lagna and Kemadruma Yoga is being formed.  Generally speaking this year, it may be noted that when the Moon transits the signs of Libra and Aries and also Taurus, Leo and Aquarius, the financial stresses will definitely show up.  Only in Taurus, due to the Gajakeśarī Yoga formed in conjunction with Jupiter and the exaltation of the Moon will better things after initial problems.

A BRIEF LOOK AT THE TWELVE LAGNAS/ ASCENDANTS IN VEDIC ASTROLOGY

People are often curious at the beginning of their astrological quest, to know something of the various facets pertaining to their ‘chart’; in other words, they wish to evaluate the basic propensities pertaining to their Lagnas and their Rashi/ Lagna Kundalis (Kundalis). Also, the Chandra Lagna itself and Gochar furnish other popular areas of curiosity. Lagna is the sign rising on the Eastern horizon at the time of birth and is occupied by a Rāśi (Rashi)/ Vedic sign. The average duration of a sign rising in the Lagna/ Ascendant is two hours and for this reason the twelve Rāśis cover the twenty-four hours duration of the solar day. ( Basic Jyotiṣa principles can be accessed by clicking this link ) Lagna imbues a person with individuality and therefore denotes the self and the personality of the person. It is the first house or Bhāva of the chart and is the commencement point of any horoscopic study. We cannot forget that in all the divisional charts as well there is a Lagna/ asc

Yanavanta/ Annapurna/ Vahana Yoga of Venus and Moon in Scorpio-8th October, 2013

The Yānavaṅta/ Yanavanta/ Annapūrṇā/ Annapurna/ Vāhana/ Vahana Yoga is formed when Venus and Moon/ Śukra and Cañdra/ Shukra and Chandra associate to form a Yoga in the Vedic horoscope; by Vedic horoscope is meant the Rāśi Cakra/ Rashi Chakra and the Varga Chakra as well, the latter being the divisional charts governing specific areas of life such as marriage (Navāmśa/ Navamsha), career (Daśāmśa/ Dashamsha), children (Saptāmśa/ Saptamsha), parents and elders (Dwādaśāmśa/ Dwadashamsha), comforts and luxuries (Ṣodaśāmśa/ Shodashamsha), spirituality and worship (Vimśāmśa/ Vimshamsha), education (Siddhāmśa/ Siddhamsha) etc. Let us consider the immediate meanings of the various terms used to indicate the Yoga formed due to the association of Venus and the Moon. The term Yānavaṅta/ Yanavanta indicates the charioteer or one guiding the vehicle of humanity or a group or individuals. It indicates leadership and the capacity to show the way to the multitudes and to guide and mould their live

A METHODOLOGY FOR VEDIC CHART INTERPRETATION

The following is an attempt to lay down a general method to conduct professional chart analysis. It appears to have worked well for the author in his practice. Notably though, it need not be the best way to interpret charts and the astrologer must find her own way when it comes to developing a structure with which to unravel any given chart. Some of the more general features of interpretation are being omitted for fear of the paper becoming unwieldy but certain crucial aspects of Jyotish interpretation are being explained since these are not very widely used. The author is indebted to the works of Pt. Sanjay Rath, author, scholar and Jyotish Guru of Sri Jagannath Center. It is through assimilating the writings of Pt. Rath that the author has been able to progress from the fundamentals of Jyotish to a somewhat deeper understanding. ARUDHA PADAS: The houses as reckoned from the Lagna/ Ascendant reveal the truth about the native. This is metaphysical reality as distinguished from precipit
