Plan Your Days With Vedic Astrology (Moon in Cancer)

We need a reference, a framework and body of principles to guide us with decision-making in the most important areas of life-family, finance, work, relationships, property, interaction, love, wealth, children, parents, comforts, education and the like. While focused and personalised work on the natal horoscope is the perfect way to have an exhaustive analytical paper on this aspect, to get into the flow of living with magical, spiritual principles of Hindu/ Vedic Astrology, adherence to the movements of planets through their interpretation for the created world, as in this paper, is a fine idea.

Vedic astrologers segregate transit/ Gochara writings, as on this website, through the movement of both the slow and faster planets and ready reckoners which are published every two days or so are based on the movement of the Vedic Moon through the zodiac since the gentle luminary changes Rashi/ sign after two days. Sometimes the fastest planet, the Moon, transits and fructifies other Yogas/ planetary combinations being formed in the zodiac and these lead to more elaborate and focussed findings in various areas of life represented by the planets being significators or Kāraka/ Karaka for the same. Therefore, a reliable map may be had simply by referring to these evaluations. Apart from what has been said this is so for the following reasons amongst others-

  • Moon/ Cañdra/ Chandra is a royal planet and indicates the focus of the mind, being the significator of the mind;
  • Moon also shows people and society in general and therefore interaction and the flux of things is ably illustrated by the movement of this planet;
  • Moon is a fast moving Graha and its pace appropriates for itself the role of shift and change since this is the only transit parameter to alter quickly and illustrates everything from changing moods to changing resource pools and circumstances;
  • Moon forms Yogas in transit such as the one formed in Mithuna Rāśi/ Rashi/  Gemini with Gurū/ Guru/ Jupiter leading to the Gajakeśarī/ Gajakesari Yoga which yields some dominant inference about the given Cañdra Gocara/ Chandra Gochara;
  • With the transit of the Moon, the Rāśi/ Rashi changes and so does the Āditya/  Aditya and our access to resources and areas from which those resources come is also altered.

We need to be quite clear that Reports and Analyses which are composed by this writer for consulters cannot be equated with the transit predictions because the former are elaborate esoteric documents containing direct information about the Karma of the person. In other words, multifarious factors including lesser known or almost unknown techniques of evaluation and prediction are used to advice the person from any part of the world about crucial areas of his life. That kind of work stands on a different footing altogether and is capable of evaluating complex business and personal dynamics, specific questions as to particular problems and issues, broad patterns of life, things to come, the quality of the time, the difference between personal and outer realities in all areas of that person's life.

Vedic astrology is universal in its scope and covers all persons irrespective of country, colour, caste or creed with a highly sophisticated paradigm of twelve Lagnas and nine planets for each Lagna in every area of life represented by the Varga Chakras/ divisional charts.

With this background in place we can now note that the transit Moon has entered Cancer/ Karkaṭa Rāśi/ Rashi, the Vedic horoscope for which movement is given below-

We can see that the Moon is in its own sign and conjoins debilitated Mars in Cancer. The lord of the sign coming to join, brings cancellation of debility for Maṅgala/ Mangala/ Mars-this Nīcabhaṅga/ Neechabhanga Yoga assuages some of the weakness people have been feeling when it comes to competitive matters such as winning, ruling, getting ahead and fulfilling ambitions. Security at home and emotional connection will improve this situation.

This is especially so since Śani/ Saturn has been compelling Mars to labour hard and slog with its 10th Bhāva/ Bhava Graha Dṛṣṭi/ Drishti from Libra/ Tulā Rāśi/Tula Rashi. Saturn now aspects the Moon as well and so for the working populace getting the work done will be a strong theme on Sunday and Monday both.

Venus and Moon are Paraspara Karaka or mutually supportive being in Kendra from each other and form wealth Yoga which is supportive of another wealth Yoga formed due to the conjunction of Mars and the Moon called the Śaśi-Maṅgala/ Shashi-Mangala Yoga. This will be another theme and wealth may come in less than the most robust circumstances which curiously never appears to affect the quantum.

A BRIEF LOOK AT THE TWELVE LAGNAS/ ASCENDANTS IN VEDIC ASTROLOGY

People are often curious at the beginning of their astrological quest, to know something of the various facets pertaining to their ‘chart’; in other words, they wish to evaluate the basic propensities pertaining to their Lagnas and their Rashi/ Lagna Kundalis (Kundalis). Also, the Chandra Lagna itself and Gochar furnish other popular areas of curiosity. Lagna is the sign rising on the Eastern horizon at the time of birth and is occupied by a Rāśi (Rashi)/ Vedic sign. The average duration of a sign rising in the Lagna/ Ascendant is two hours and for this reason the twelve Rāśis cover the twenty-four hours duration of the solar day. ( Basic Jyotiṣa principles can be accessed by clicking this link ) Lagna imbues a person with individuality and therefore denotes the self and the personality of the person. It is the first house or Bhāva of the chart and is the commencement point of any horoscopic study. We cannot forget that in all the divisional charts as well there is a Lagna/ asc

Yanavanta/ Annapurna/ Vahana Yoga of Venus and Moon in Scorpio-8th October, 2013

The Yānavaṅta/ Yanavanta/ Annapūrṇā/ Annapurna/ Vāhana/ Vahana Yoga is formed when Venus and Moon/ Śukra and Cañdra/ Shukra and Chandra associate to form a Yoga in the Vedic horoscope; by Vedic horoscope is meant the Rāśi Cakra/ Rashi Chakra and the Varga Chakra as well, the latter being the divisional charts governing specific areas of life such as marriage (Navāmśa/ Navamsha), career (Daśāmśa/ Dashamsha), children (Saptāmśa/ Saptamsha), parents and elders (Dwādaśāmśa/ Dwadashamsha), comforts and luxuries (Ṣodaśāmśa/ Shodashamsha), spirituality and worship (Vimśāmśa/ Vimshamsha), education (Siddhāmśa/ Siddhamsha) etc. Let us consider the immediate meanings of the various terms used to indicate the Yoga formed due to the association of Venus and the Moon. The term Yānavaṅta/ Yanavanta indicates the charioteer or one guiding the vehicle of humanity or a group or individuals. It indicates leadership and the capacity to show the way to the multitudes and to guide and mould their live

A METHODOLOGY FOR VEDIC CHART INTERPRETATION

The following is an attempt to lay down a general method to conduct professional chart analysis. It appears to have worked well for the author in his practice. Notably though, it need not be the best way to interpret charts and the astrologer must find her own way when it comes to developing a structure with which to unravel any given chart. Some of the more general features of interpretation are being omitted for fear of the paper becoming unwieldy but certain crucial aspects of Jyotish interpretation are being explained since these are not very widely used. The author is indebted to the works of Pt. Sanjay Rath, author, scholar and Jyotish Guru of Sri Jagannath Center. It is through assimilating the writings of Pt. Rath that the author has been able to progress from the fundamentals of Jyotish to a somewhat deeper understanding. ARUDHA PADAS: The houses as reckoned from the Lagna/ Ascendant reveal the truth about the native. This is metaphysical reality as distinguished from precipit
