Vedic Astrology Forecast for June, 2015

The Vedic astrology forecast for the month of June, 2015 can be made without having to account for too much movement in the planetary positions.

Just as we go into June, we find that Venus (Śukra or Shukra) has moved out of Gemini (Mithuna Rāśi-Rashi) and into Cancer (Karkaṭa or Karkata), joining Gurū (Guru or Jupiter) in the exaltation sign of the latter.

This itself forms the Dwi-Gurū Yoga as the preceptors of both camps are together. While it is true they will both try in right earnest to have their say, and prevail, they are such great benefics that their impact on human beings is entirely welcome, the tussle notwithstanding.

Also, Jupiter in exaltation is likely to prevail which is even better because Venus rules eye-catching significations in our lives, too much of which doesn’t serve any useful purpose.

The chart just on the threshold of June is given below-

Cancer is about home and happiness, and learning. It also works very well for recuperation and notable relief from long-standing physical problems.

In short, blessings are likely to come from Jupiter and Venus in a wide variety of ways depending on the horoscope in question, as well as specifically the fact of location of Karkaṭa Rāśi (Karka Rashi) in the Rāśi Chakra.

These great benefics are not afflicted by the malefic aspect of any planet, and are, for that reason practically unhindered in giving what they wish to give.

The independent treatment of the transit of Jupiter in Leo in July, 2015 has been up at this website for some time now and may be read there.

Saturn (Śani or Shani), the slow one, is in Scorpio (Vṛṣcika or Vrishchika Rāśi) and detailed work is available on this transit, on this website, here, here and here.

Mercury (Budha) is retrograde in the beginning of June in Taurus (Vṛṣabha or Vrishabha Rāśi) and is afflicted by the conjunction of the Sun (Surya) and Mars (Mangala), as well as the aspects of Saturn and Rahu. This is a very serious affliction with all the malefics involved, save Ketu.

The written word and communications in general can be misconstrued and lead to issues arising. Matters left over and not concluded or not commenced may come in now and these often do not pose any problems as far as the effects of retrogression are concerned. If the malefics are supportive in the nativity then the circumstances may be testing but geared towards fruitful outcomes.

Saturn restricts the proper work of Mercury which is transaction and interaction while the association with the Sun and Mars is good for people who work with logic and whose communications must carry a cutting quality. Likewise skin doctors and dermatologists will be working overtime owing to this signification of Mercury suffering.

For those who are brilliant in their work, the aspect of Rahu to Mercury is not really an affliction but a spur to come up with work of a special quality. Pushing rational and intellectual boundaries can occur during this time as a positive manifestation of this association.

Taurus has to do with money, food and family and this is where the main activity is, qualified by the house position tenanted by this sign.

There is great stress between the secret and the visible owing to the mutual aspects between the great enemies Saturn and Sun and Saturn and Mars.

The Sun only moves out of Taurus in the middle of the month when this tension will abate and the Sun will be free to give all sorts of resources from Gemini.

Relationships and marriage in Vedic astrology

Relationships and marriage in Vedic astrology is an important and complex subject. Important, because these are pillars of life and the structure of life is supported by its pillars; complex, because there are many determinants, with which to investigate this life-area. [Exactly how complex they are is made clear when the concerned parties relegate the comforts of theory to the background and enter the stormy seas of hello there.]

Relationships in Vedic astrology-

Relationships are important in themselves. They are inherently capable of being astrologically distinct from marriage because a relationship may lead to marriage or may not and a marriage may be a meaningful relationship or may not be.

Significator (Kāraka or Karaka) for relationships in Vedic astrology-

Venus (Śukra or Shukra) is the Naisargika Kāraka/ Natural Significator of relationships both for men and for women. By relationships, as the term is used in this paper, is meant romantic relationships. Per contra the Moon (Cañdra or Chandra) is the Kāraka for all human relationships.

House and planet significations for relationships in Vedic astrology-

Insofar as the Bhāvas (Bhavas or houses) from the Lagna (Ascendant) are concerned, the 7th House and the 7th Lord rule relationships of intimacy and romance, amongst others.

Crux Graha (Planet) for Relationships in Vedic Astrology-

Śukra (Venus) continues as the reference for relationships that are apt to follow each other, especially in the current climes. Whether the relationship is the first or another number, the progression is to be reckoned from Venus in appropriate ways.

Ārūḍha Padas (Arudha Padas) relating to relationships in Vedic astrology-

There is enough material on this website where I stress the point that all Ārūḍha Padas elaborate and depict manifest reality. Therein lays their function.

Since the 7th House from the Lagna is the focus, when we discuss relationships, it can only be the Ārūḍha of the 7th House which indicates precipitated events in this area of life. The Ārūḍha Pada of the 7th House is called the Dārāpada (Darapada), generally denoted as A7.

Dārāpada (Darapada orA7) as a determinant of relationships in Vedic astrology-

Dārāpada/ A7 is indicative of the manner in which we interact with the opposite sex, its felicity or otherwise. It is an expression of our relationships in the Rāśi Chakra (Rashi Chakra). This Ārūḍha Pada has to be examined at leisure to discern the influences on it, after its basic nature and strength have been identified and noted.

Rāśi (Rashi) generally, in relationships in Vedic astrology-

All the astrological determinants specifically referred to are examined for overall strength, including that of placement from crucial references, in the Rāśi Chakra to get a sense of the overall situation relating to this aspect of life.

Marriage in Vedic astrology-

Marriage is an entirely distinct astrological reference, as mentioned earlier. The reason for its being distinct is that in Hinduism the concept of self-surrender to the spouse is at the root of the institution. This is a rather more sober and sincere concept and hence the distinction.

Significator (Kāraka or Karaka)-

Venus carries on being the significator of marriage for men, and for women as well, but at some point close to the marriage, the signification, for women, is transferred to Jupiter/ Gurū (Guru). It is for this reason that Jupiter is the significator for husband.

House and lord for marriage in Vedic astrology-

The 7th House and lord from the Lagna continue to rule marriage for the reason that if the Lagna is the self then the 7th is the other and it is to the other that one gets married.

Ārūḍha Pada (Arudha Pada) for marriage in Vedic astrology-

If there is a metaphysical impulse or its expression from the Bhāva from the Lagna, equally there must be a determinant for its manifestation, in the Ārūḍha Pada, as for relationships. There is, and the Ārūḍha Pada for marriage is called the Upapada Lagna.

Upapada Lagna and marriage in Vedic astrology-

The Padas are not imported from strange lands into Vedic astrology but the Bṛhaṭ Pārāśara Horā Śāstra itself devotes great attention to them. Import is right because the Upapada Lagna is derived from the 12th Bhāva from Lagna, relating to foreign lands. This might contribute to giving the wife that alien, distant, foreign inflection.

The 12th House is self-surrender and this is the actual reason for the Upapada Lagna being calculated from the 12th House. It is the Ārūḍha Pada of the 12th House.

The Upapada Lagna as the manifestation of marriage furnishes information about the spouse, her family, and the defining features of the marriage that are visible to the enquiring eye.

It can be said then that the Upapada Lagna will illustrate the environment from which a particular spouse is going to manifest, the longevity of the marriage and other such details. Occasionally, people will work to prevent the disaster from happening, thereby saving two good people, and this overt and covert opposition to the marriage is also revealed by the relevant positioning from the Ārūḍha Pada.

Relationships and marriage in Vedic astrology-

Sometimes it is a relationship which develops into marriage and the Dārāpada and Upapada Lagna reflect this by associating in the Rāśi Chakra. You can then look back fondly on what once was.

Draw a line-

Yes, do that, because one has been writing about relationships and marriage, and yet there has been no whisper about the Navāmśa Chakra (Navamsha), which apart from being one of the most important charts in the Vedic horoscope, is the specific Varga Chakra for the matters at hand. So, draw a line here.

Navāmśa Chakra (Navamsha) and marriage in Vedic astrology-

The 7th House continues to be the focus in the D-9 (Navāmśa Chakra), which is the chart to see when we wish to evaluate the real features of the alliance.

To be noted is the fact that very serious relationships with emotional involvement will show up in the Navāmśa Chakra  whether they have gone on to become marriages or not. Others will not.

‘Which is which and who is who’ in marriages in Vedic astrology-

Carrying the theme forward we find that all relationships of any import whatsoever can be traced back to the Karaka, the agent of divinity, to put a spanner into the otherwise well-organised and largely peaceful works.

A lot of these can end up being ‘Oh, it was just...’ in which case they can be indiscriminately blamed on the A7 (Darapada), without more. Not only will they not attract evaluation from the reference of marriage but also not from the Navāmśa Chakra.

The twin exclamations of ‘Enough’ and ‘No More’ in marriages in Vedic astrology-

Things tend to come to an end and so do relationships and marriages. Things end when other things that sustain them refuse to do so anymore. This is deciphered both from the Pada and the Navāmśa Chakra. An end to any number of marital adventures comes when this laudable Karma ends, the latter being ruled by the Kārmic planets, Rahu and Ketu.

The main culprits lurk in the Navāmśa Chakra  while accomplices and cohorts do so in the Rāśi Chakra.

Far from the madding crowds-

More personal things relating to the exertions, contortions and other such of the willing and able are tucked away safely in more private areas of the horoscope, to be approached only in instances of particular need.

Matching in marriages in Vedic astrology-

Charts are matched to try and limit and mitigate the carnage and this is done in the realms of intellectual, social and emotional realms, that of destined Karma and to try and match or steer clear of Dosha and marital blemishes.

There is a plethora of other matters to be reckoned with very seriously but let what I have said suffice for the present time. We could get into discussions on situations where the warning signs and sage advice go unheeded and one insists on preliminary ceremonies, we could get into sophisticated realms of the desire of the sexes to find traits in the other which they desperately seek for good reason, and also whether two people are walking the talk after all. But let all this be for another time.

The Subject of Food in Vedic Astrology- Planet Significations, Diets, and Remedial Measures

In this article, the subject of food is correlated with the planets and houses in Vedic astrology, extending amongst other things to dietary significations and methods of prescribing remedial measures involving food.

WHY FOOD-

Food is necessary for sustenance, in common parlance. As a necessity it is one of the biggest drivers in life. It is essential for the body or the Deha/ Tanu.

SIGNIFICATOR OF FOOD-

Moon (Cañdra or Chandra) is the Natural Significator or the Naisargika Kāraka for food in general, in Vedic astrology.

It is also the Karaka for the mind, social interaction, fame and flow of things. The Moon is so important that it is treated as a Lagna in itself called the Janma Rashi (Jañma Rāśi) or the Chandra (Cañdra) Lagna.

DIETARY POLICIES & FOOD BASED REMEDIES IN VEDIC ASTROLOGY-

Why should there be any sort of awareness of a food intake policy or plan? If dietary policies are a valid metaphysical organisation, then adherence to such a plan would keep the natal Moon, which is Kāraka for all food, in good order.

Planets in Vedic astrology (the Grahas) are embodied energies which are alive and subsist in personam. Like other dynamic and living beings they need food. The Ārūḍha (Arudha) Padas are similar in that they also need food to exist in the world of Māyā (Maya).

It is this which provides the abiding rationale for fasting as it transfers the food which would have otherwise come to the native, to the relevant astrological entity for which the fast is being undertaken.

Bhāvas (Bhavas) or the houses and the Grahas placed therein are important determinants for remedial measures.

BODY-

Whatever happens, happens to us while we occupy the body. Food is essential for the body as recorded earlier. Regulation of food is thus inextricably linked to the happenings experienced through the body.

AND MIND-

Since Moon is the Kāraka of both food and the mind, what we eat impacts the mind. As the body or the Deha is another signification, the state of the body informs the mind as well.

DASHA (DAŚĀ) AND FOOD-

As planets govern different foods, the change in the Dasha can radically alter the nature, quality and quantity of food intake. The Rāśi Daśā (Rashi Dasha or Periods of the signs) irrespective of the planets placed in them can alter the environs in which food is had. For example, in a given phase of time one may eat more often at home, and in another, outside.

DASHA AND PHYSICAL APPEARANCE-

The logical corollary is that physical appearance changes with the change in the Daśā because the food is changing.

GEMSTONES AND FOOD-

The reason for exercising caution in the prescription of gemstones (Ratnas) is that they directly touch the body (except the diamond). Therefore it is natural to expect that food which forms, comprises and sustains the body itself is all important and care in food is a pre-requisite.

GOOD, BAD AND ABSOLUTELY PROHIBITED-

The various categories of foods for the individual can be derived from the horoscope and the crucial planets along with their placement in crucial Bhāvas. Prohibited foods are crucial to identify because they can be extremely adverse in precipitating adverse Karma which extends far beyond bodily matters- these can be identified by coalescing the defining features in specific divisional charts.

FOOD STRATEGY AND CLARITY OF DISTINCTION-

An effective strategy of food intake is contingent on clarity in distinguishing the roles the planets are playing in the Vedic horoscope.

Some planet-ruled food is to be ingested only to be digested and expelled, in order to get the malefic or otherwise impeding energy represented by the planet, out of the way, while others can be the affirmative back-bone of the food intake. Some foods can be symbolic embellishments if the quality or the nature of the food prohibits  intake in anything but notional mass owing to physiological constraints.

DON’T DO IT-

This always ensures that it will in fact be done and so it is with food.

FOODS SIGNIFIED BY THE PLANETS IN VEDIC ASTROLOGY-

The food related significations of the Navagrahas or the nine planets in Vedic astrology are given below. These are indicative of core sources based on Rasa and the list can be enhanced from standard sources.

Sun (Surya)- red chillies

Moon (Chandra)- milk, water, rice

Mars (Mangala)- bitter gourd

Mercury (Budha)- green vegetables

Jupiter (Guru)- sweets, clarified butter

Venus (Shukra)- curd, yoghurt

Saturn (Shani)- mustard, alcohol

Rahu- mushrooms, red meat

Ketu- fish

MISCELLANY IN ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLES-

Venus rules curd and yoghurt and having power to revive the dead through the Sanjivani, curd and yoghurt are used in potentially fatal diseases. There is nothing better to strengthen the immune system and yet this is not for everybody as indicated in this article above.

It should be no surprise then that the diamond is similarly used in such situations. Please see the correlations established above in this paper between the body, food and gemstones.

When it comes to Saturn the difference is that the planet is ‘the great malefic’ and rules alcohol related problems when it comes to imbibing. In food stuffs ruled by Saturn a poignant situation usually emerges akin to a choice between the devil and the deep blue sea. This is how it was intended. Even so, if Saturn occupies special locations its food and drink significations cannot be ignored.
