IMPLICATIONS OF THE SATURN TRANSIT IN VIRGO

|Nama Shivaya|

The Saturn transit in Virgo has brought some interesting developments. As the more mundane aspects of the transit have been covered in many write-ups in astrology around the globe, let us pause and consider some of the influences of the Gochar/ transit for nativities/ Jataka.
Before we commence, let us revisit some of the foundational realities about Saturn. The planet represents our past adverse Karma, the degree of adversity depending upon the strength and placement of the Graha, both in the Rashi Chakra and in the Varga Chakra or the divisional charts of import. By adversity, we also mean the Tamas Guna realities of ignorance and not knowing, an important frailty which begets and invites suffering in existence.
Conventional negatives like suffering and exclusion come from the horoscopic presence of Shani. The Graha precipitates our suffering and shows where the adversity in life is to be found. If the planet is weak or badly placed, then the suffering and pain to be experienced is considerable.
Of course, Shani teaches us the avenues of hard work, and requirement of perseverance, recognition of our frailties and weaknesses, the realities related to working in society and also exposes us to work areas which it rules. Shani shows the obstacles that we are likely to face in any given area of life and also shows the inner weaknesses and enemies that we have within us as it is the Karaka for the 6th House from the Lagna.
Saturn has been transiting Kanya Rashi/ Virgo. This latter is the 6th Bhava/ house of the natural zodiac and governs daily work, application and growth of the self and intelligence, diseases, intestines, work-related information gathering and writing, formal communications, illnesses related to the specific body parts governed by the sign and also generally.
The retrogression of Saturn in the sign Virgo has precipitated health issues for very many people.
A retrograde planet has high Cheshta Bala and strives very hard to give its results. The attributes of the planets are also strengthened and heightened. However, due to the mandatory requirement of effort, a manifold effort, the retrograde planet brings about delay, and often very considerable delay in the matters of its governance and influence. If the Saturn influence in any given nativity is strong, in whichever way, or a nativity is going through the Mahadasha of Shani in the Vimshottari Dasha scheme, its retrogression would have certainly brought about notable events.
Sometimes, when Saturn’s malefic influence, or more properly, the malefic influence and impact of one’s own past Karma, as indicated by Saturn is yielding and relieving the person, either through good Karma in this incarnation, remedial measures, burning the adversity through experience or any other such factors in combination, then the retrogression will simply highlight an issue which needs addressing. The fact as to whether the native notes it and does something about it will usually depend on the other factors in the horoscope both at the static and dynamic levels.
For instance, there may have been some intestinal trouble or issues with a person which he may or may not have been addressing effectively. These issues, if on the verge of being settled in life, the person would be forced (retrograde malefic) to look at the problem squarely, and then address it. In other words retrograde Saturn will surely bring the weakness to the fore.
In another arena, if work related communications were proceeding at a slow pace then retrograde Saturn would make one work very hard on such communications. A lighter and more relaxed pace of work insofar as communications are concerned has been replaced by requirements of more labour and longer hours.
It is also of importance to note as to which Bhava/ house from the Lagna Virgo occupies because this will be the indicator of the conscious attitude of the person while dealing with the transit of Saturn. For example if Virgo happens to be the 5th Bhava from the Lagna, then a person might want to address issues of melancholy and slowness in intellectual application, or give more attention to issues related to children and considering the simultaneous transit of Guru in Meena Rashi/ Pisces, be also able to give it.
In the 2nd Bhava from the Lagna, movable assets and handling one’s liquidity might have become important in life. Likewise, speech and ingestion of foods would have either become problematic or there would have been a need to address the issue.
The various Bhava Arudha Padas show the tangible and manifest realities related to different aspects of life. The transit of Shani atop an Arudha Pada is damaging because of the intrinsic difficult relationship with the Moon, the Naisargika Karaka/ Natural Significator for all the Arudha Padas. A simultaneous transit of the planet over Arudha Padas such as A6/ Shatru-Pada would have most certainly given external manifestation to the health issues associated with the transit.
When it comes to the Arudha Padas, the Kendra and the Trikona positions are quite relevant. The transit of Saturn in trines to important Arudha Padas has also given us pressing urgency to look at these matters.
The quality of this transit is also associated with the transit of debilitated Rahu in Sagittarius especially because there is a sign aspect between Rahu and Shani in transit and the two dire malefics have given us compulsory focus in the areas they touch and influence.
The saving grace comes from the transit of Jupiter in another mutable sign, which gives divine grace and protection to events in nativities. This transit ensures that the events occasioned by the influence of the malefics are towards a higher end and all happen in the context of cosmic design and not out of it.
The light of Jupiter ensures that the Tamas of the malefics does not overpower lives and the Sattwa Guna balances the impact. While Saturn and Jupiter are in mutual aspect in transit even by planetary aspect, circumstantial reality is more important here especially of neither planet is the Mahadasha lord in the Vimshottari Dasha scheme, and such circumstantial reality is better gauged through the Rashi Drishti/ sign aspects.
The Bhava from the Arudha Lagna is also important and should be evaluated in a like manner.

    Hi Anurag,

It's been a very good rather noble job what you are doing by explaining these critical things so easily. However, I still have one concern in mind related to the Shani's position in our horoscope. My kundli has virgo as ascendant and shani being the lord of 5th and 6th house is posited in 6th house with (29 deg+) itself and believe me I attract enemies and problems. But with this my Jupiter is sitting in the 11th house i.e. in Cancer sign. However, it is retrograde. Now, the concern with me is my financial status is always unstable although all the jyotishi says that I should have good money but hardly make survival. Also most of the time or more precisely my relations are quite strained with everyone taking from home to neighbors no one likes me and I also dont get well along with them may I am very ideological kind of person so anybody does wrong I snap him. What could be the reason? And do you feel there could be any possible remedy for handling the two problems. BTW I am an ardent devotee of Lord Shani and I believe I must have done some goof ups in my past life as the retrograde Jupiter in 11th house is seen in most of the people who were not good in their past lives. For your convenience let me give you my details DOB 20-12-1966; TOB 00:50; POB New Delhi.

I would be very thankful for your sincere efforts.

    Regards

    Pravin

  2. Simply one or two positions in the Rāśi Cakra will not suffice to elucidate the Karma in any life. We must examine that chart from several reference points, especially the Ārūḍha Lagna as that is the primary index for social and financial realities in life. Further, the relevant Vargas/ divisional charts have to be examined threadbare along with the Daśā systems such as the Vimśottarī and the Sudśā etc. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Vedic-Astrology-Consultancy-Research/217434988419035

A BRIEF LOOK AT THE TWELVE LAGNAS/ ASCENDANTS IN VEDIC ASTROLOGY

People are often curious at the beginning of their astrological quest, to know something of the various facets pertaining to their ‘chart’; in other words, they wish to evaluate the basic propensities pertaining to their Lagnas and their Rashi/ Lagna Kundalis (Kundalis). Also, the Chandra Lagna itself and Gochar furnish other popular areas of curiosity. Lagna is the sign rising on the Eastern horizon at the time of birth and is occupied by a Rāśi (Rashi)/ Vedic sign. The average duration of a sign rising in the Lagna/ Ascendant is two hours and for this reason the twelve Rāśis cover the twenty-four hours duration of the solar day. ( Basic Jyotiṣa principles can be accessed by clicking this link ) Lagna imbues a person with individuality and therefore denotes the self and the personality of the person. It is the first house or Bhāva of the chart and is the commencement point of any horoscopic study. We cannot forget that in all the divisional charts as well there is a Lagna/ asc

A METHODOLOGY FOR VEDIC CHART INTERPRETATION

The following is an attempt to lay down a general method to conduct professional chart analysis. It appears to have worked well for the author in his practice. Notably though, it need not be the best way to interpret charts and the astrologer must find her own way when it comes to developing a structure with which to unravel any given chart. Some of the more general features of interpretation are being omitted for fear of the paper becoming unwieldy but certain crucial aspects of Jyotish interpretation are being explained since these are not very widely used. The author is indebted to the works of Pt. Sanjay Rath, author, scholar and Jyotish Guru of Sri Jagannath Center. It is through assimilating the writings of Pt. Rath that the author has been able to progress from the fundamentals of Jyotish to a somewhat deeper understanding. ARUDHA PADAS: The houses as reckoned from the Lagna/ Ascendant reveal the truth about the native. This is metaphysical reality as distinguished from precipit

Yanavanta/ Annapurna/ Vahana Yoga of Venus and Moon in Scorpio-8th October, 2013

The Yānavaṅta/ Yanavanta/ Annapūrṇā/ Annapurna/ Vāhana/ Vahana Yoga is formed when Venus and Moon/ Śukra and Cañdra/ Shukra and Chandra associate to form a Yoga in the Vedic horoscope; by Vedic horoscope is meant the Rāśi Cakra/ Rashi Chakra and the Varga Chakra as well, the latter being the divisional charts governing specific areas of life such as marriage (Navāmśa/ Navamsha), career (Daśāmśa/ Dashamsha), children (Saptāmśa/ Saptamsha), parents and elders (Dwādaśāmśa/ Dwadashamsha), comforts and luxuries (Ṣodaśāmśa/ Shodashamsha), spirituality and worship (Vimśāmśa/ Vimshamsha), education (Siddhāmśa/ Siddhamsha) etc. Let us consider the immediate meanings of the various terms used to indicate the Yoga formed due to the association of Venus and the Moon. The term Yānavaṅta/ Yanavanta indicates the charioteer or one guiding the vehicle of humanity or a group or individuals. It indicates leadership and the capacity to show the way to the multitudes and to guide and mould their live
