Mercury Direct in Virgo and Other Vedic Astrology Developments in October 2015

Mercury is in direct motion in Virgo-
Mercury has now turned direct in Virgo in Vedic astrology transits, and is therefore now simply exalted. Earlier in retrogression, it was giving the results of Pisces which is the sign of its debilitation. I discussed some of these facets in this article- http://planetarytransformation.blogspot.in/2015/09/exaltation-of-planet-mercury-in-virgo.html. This paper discusses the exaltation of Mercury in Virgo, which is the situation obtaining at the present time.

The effects of Mercury retrograde, as it was at the time, in Virgo and approximating to placement in Pisces are discussed in my article at this link- http://planetarytransformation.blogspot.in/2015/09/mercury-retrograde-in-virgo-on.html

What’s new with Mercury direct-
As Mercury turned direct, we embarked on an exercise of interpreting two Vedic horoscopes and dispatched the findings to our consulters, readers and subscribers through our Newsletter.

Our Vedic astrology Newsletter periodically communicates esoteric content at an advanced level to those who are on the list, and this content is usually not available for reading on this website.

Synopsis of the contents of the Newsletter-
In this edition of the Vedic astrology Newsletter, we explore the theme, through practical real-life examples, as to how the contemporary person and understand and transform their lives, avoid the pitfalls and heighten the positives through the higher echelons of Vedic astrology.

In the first example, we survey combinations and Yogas which define the personality and the moment, holding sway over the thought-processes and guiding the intelligence of the individual through placement in the Lagna or the Ascendant.

We get into the peculiarities of planets as lords of houses and how their dignity and strength or weakness can dictate the course of life through events which can be seen readily through the systems of Vedic astrology.

The importance of the Moon is in clear evidence here in this Vedic horoscope as is that of the Arudha Lagna, the image of the person in the world. We see how planets can make a person change his jobs time and again and how the image of the person as seen in the Rashi chart, dominate the choice of career at a given point in time.

The area of marriage is yet another pillar in the life of a person and this is also studied in the example horoscope. We evaluate the inherent strength of the marriage and the factors which might lead to its cessation. The crux principles are brought into sharp relief so that the readers may clearly discern the fabric of Karma laid down by the combinations and placements in the horoscope.

In the second example horoscope also we examine the life and times of an individual whose tenor of life experience underwent a major change owing to a Vipareeta Raja Yoga. This combination is the source of much curiosity and we have made some essentials quite clear through the scrutiny of the Yoga in this horoscope. Typically,  this Yoga is not founded in consistency and longevity and is short-lived. While in this chart, the Yoga transcends itself to attain considerable length, since it is an unexpected success which has come, we have to always keep our investigations open to the possibility of a weak link, especially when the Yoga is required to be strong.

In this horoscope, the transit of Saturn in Scorpio is important and has been analysed. My other papers on the subject may be read here-

In this horoscope, as in the previous one, we again survey marriage. The marriage involves the Badhakesha or the obstructing agent for the horoscope which often introduces the foreign element into marriage (this is slightly different from the usual situation where each spouse visualises the other as some sort of alien or foreigner in any case). The challenges brought about by the transit and placement of Saturn, the Rajayoga which has already manifested and future prospects are all discussed here.

Current transits-
Apart from Mercury, it is important to note that Venus and Jupiter are both moving in direct motion in Leo. They are joined Mars. It at once forms the Guru-Mangala Yoga and triggers Venus into action. There are major reserves of pragmatic and esoteric knowledge both and certain people will give forceful expression to these. Mercury and Sun are together in Virgo and are joined Rahu and there is a great deal of focus on the actual work that you do.

I have already discussed the stressful alliance caused by the mutual planetary aspect between Mars and Saturn, which can be accessed by visiting the following link here- http://planetarytransformation.blogspot.in/2015/09/implications-of-current-transits-of.html

A BRIEF LOOK AT THE TWELVE LAGNAS/ ASCENDANTS IN VEDIC ASTROLOGY

People are often curious at the beginning of their astrological quest, to know something of the various facets pertaining to their ‘chart’; in other words, they wish to evaluate the basic propensities pertaining to their Lagnas and their Rashi/ Lagna Kundalis (Kundalis). Also, the Chandra Lagna itself and Gochar furnish other popular areas of curiosity. Lagna is the sign rising on the Eastern horizon at the time of birth and is occupied by a Rāśi (Rashi)/ Vedic sign. The average duration of a sign rising in the Lagna/ Ascendant is two hours and for this reason the twelve Rāśis cover the twenty-four hours duration of the solar day. ( Basic Jyotiṣa principles can be accessed by clicking this link ) Lagna imbues a person with individuality and therefore denotes the self and the personality of the person. It is the first house or Bhāva of the chart and is the commencement point of any horoscopic study. We cannot forget that in all the divisional charts as well there is a Lagna/ asc

Yanavanta/ Annapurna/ Vahana Yoga of Venus and Moon in Scorpio-8th October, 2013

The Yānavaṅta/ Yanavanta/ Annapūrṇā/ Annapurna/ Vāhana/ Vahana Yoga is formed when Venus and Moon/ Śukra and Cañdra/ Shukra and Chandra associate to form a Yoga in the Vedic horoscope; by Vedic horoscope is meant the Rāśi Cakra/ Rashi Chakra and the Varga Chakra as well, the latter being the divisional charts governing specific areas of life such as marriage (Navāmśa/ Navamsha), career (Daśāmśa/ Dashamsha), children (Saptāmśa/ Saptamsha), parents and elders (Dwādaśāmśa/ Dwadashamsha), comforts and luxuries (Ṣodaśāmśa/ Shodashamsha), spirituality and worship (Vimśāmśa/ Vimshamsha), education (Siddhāmśa/ Siddhamsha) etc. Let us consider the immediate meanings of the various terms used to indicate the Yoga formed due to the association of Venus and the Moon. The term Yānavaṅta/ Yanavanta indicates the charioteer or one guiding the vehicle of humanity or a group or individuals. It indicates leadership and the capacity to show the way to the multitudes and to guide and mould their live

A METHODOLOGY FOR VEDIC CHART INTERPRETATION

The following is an attempt to lay down a general method to conduct professional chart analysis. It appears to have worked well for the author in his practice. Notably though, it need not be the best way to interpret charts and the astrologer must find her own way when it comes to developing a structure with which to unravel any given chart. Some of the more general features of interpretation are being omitted for fear of the paper becoming unwieldy but certain crucial aspects of Jyotish interpretation are being explained since these are not very widely used. The author is indebted to the works of Pt. Sanjay Rath, author, scholar and Jyotish Guru of Sri Jagannath Center. It is through assimilating the writings of Pt. Rath that the author has been able to progress from the fundamentals of Jyotish to a somewhat deeper understanding. ARUDHA PADAS: The houses as reckoned from the Lagna/ Ascendant reveal the truth about the native. This is metaphysical reality as distinguished from precipit
