# About Vedic Astrology Consultancy & Research

I have maintained this website since 2004. It holds over three hundred papers on Jyotiṣa: expositions of classical principle, transit studies, case analyses, sample consultations published with the express consent of the consulters, and occasional writing that crosses into literature, jurisprudence and myth. It is freely available, for readers and students of the subject.

Alongside it, and quite separately, I take private commissions.

## The practice

Vedic astrology transcends the borders of nation, culture, race and creed, and is immediately applicable to life as it is lived now. It requires of its practitioner a traverse of two worlds at once: that of the sages of ancient India, and a contemporary one in which realities alter faster than the blinking of an eye. The particular complexities of a career, a household, a social environment have to be met with tools that are ancient, and met precisely.

The work proceeds from the dicta of the Jyotiṣa classics, applied through the Rāśi Chakra and the divisional charts to the actual realms of a life: marriage, career, family, parents and siblings, property and residence, children, education, comforts and luxuries, spirituality and destiny.

## What a consultation is

A written document, not a conversation. A full analysis commonly runs beyond eighty pages to well over a hundred depending on need and context, composed for one person alone, addressing the specific matters before that person while surveying the whole landscape of the Karma of the lifetime.

Each commission is taken up to the exclusion of every other work commitment, so that the concerns of someone I have never met receive undivided attention in a condition of heightened focus. Nothing is drawn from a template, and no part of it is produced by machine.

This has continued for over twenty years, for people in many countries.

## On artificial intelligence (updated)

The question now arises whether a machine can do this. My view is set out at length elsewhere on this site. In short: AI is a manifestation of Budha under strong nodal influence, and Ketu, who governs error, lies at its heart. It has no discernment of its own. Guru — human judgment, the oversight of the teacher — is not an optional addition to such a tool but a condition of its proper use.

## What this is not

These analyses are not empirical pronouncements of the kind made in the physical sciences, and do not resolve into true or false. They read the horoscope to derive insight into a life within a spiritual frame of reference, albeit a very immediate and real one. What is done with that insight rests with the person who receives it.

## Commissions

**Life Reading.** Comprehensive analysis of the natal horoscope and its divisions — health, career, wealth, property, marriage, progeny, parents, travel, spirituality, and the Karmic background from which these proceed, with the periodicities marked.

**Annual Chart / Tithi Praveśa.** The Vedic year examined at the same depth as the Life Reading, through the Tithi Aṣṭottarī Daśā. Most continuing consulters take this.

**Compatibility Analysis.** Two horoscopes evaluated together, including Upapada matching, Doṣa Sāmya, and the longevity and status of the marital partner.

**Praśna.** A focused answer to a specific question, from the horary chart.

**Remedial Measures.** Mantra, deity and Ratna prescriptions arising from the charts.

**Composite.** Any combination of the above. By arrangement, evaluations for corporate and family contexts where several horoscopes bear upon one decision. For individuals, a natal horoscope reading combined, for instance, with a Compatibility Analysis or Tithi Praveśa.
