The Transit of Venus To Taurus on 5th May, 2013 / Śukra-Shukra Gochar to Vṛṣabha Rāśi-Vrishabha Rashi on 5th May, 2013

Śukra/ Shukra/ Venus transits to Vṛṣabha Rāśi/ Vrishabha Rashi/ Taurus on the 5th of May, 2013 close to the midnight of the 4th of May, 2013.

Venus has hitherto been in the inimical sign of Aries/ Meṣa where the passions might be triggered but the raging impulse of Mars is really no place for the aesthetic Venus to be.

It has also been close to the Sun and combust and people have felt that love has parched up and dried and has not been reciprocated. All that is changing and Venus is moving to its Swakṣetra/ Swaksetra/ own house where it is most at ease and does not even have to work. It is the love of luxury and desire which is paramount here and the good things of life reign supreme.

This is not a simplistic transit because the Deva Gurū/ Guru Bṛhaspati/ Jupiter is also transiting Taurus and there is a Gochara/ transit Dwi-Gurū/ Di-Guru Yoga formed here. This is a very powerful combination for Taurus/ Vṛṣabha/ Vrishabha Lagna/ Rāśi/ Rashi and the Ārūḍha Lagna/ Arudha Lagna (AL) since both the material blessings will be coming through two phenomenal Brahmin preceptors.

The transit chart is given below for reference-

We must appreciate the foundational elements when we consider planetary placements whether in the context of a specific Lagna or otherwise. Venus is a Jala Tattwa Graha embodying the Water element. Aries/ Meṣa/ Mesha Rāśi-Rashi is an Agni Tattwa Rāśi/ Rashi embodying the fire element. What happens when you heat water, and that too not on a Bunsen burner but in a raging inferno (one refers to the exalted Ravi/  Sun and the Mūlatṛkoṇa/ Moolatrikona Maṅgala/ Mars transiting in Aries at this time) ? The water will start boiling and will be compelled to evaporate. It will condense later because matter cannot be created or destroyed and that later is now in Taurus. Emotions will resurface and romantic relationships will be kindled.

Finances and family will feel the wonderful effect of the cooling elixir of emotions and flow. These appease the dryness of lack and disconnect and therefore in the extant world Venus is a great benefic. Gurū/ Guru knows about the austerity of Śukra and His role of the ascetic and Tapaswī/ Tapaswi. Ever heard of best of both the worlds-well, the Yuti/ conjunction of the Gurūs/ Gurus gives exactly that.

While Venus transits through Rāśi Saṅdhi/ Rashi Sandhi/ the junctional region between Aries and Taurus there may be immediate issues related to vehicles and parking. One may, say, encounter eunuchs at traffic lights exhibiting the transient weakness and vulnerability of the planet Venus/ Śukra/ Shukra. Avoid altercations at this time. All change is by definition an unsettling of the status-quo. Soon, the wonders of Taurus shall unfold.

Venus is therefore too weak on Saturday,  the 4th of May, 2013 and the feeling of Taurean abundance is not too much in evidence being marred by the transit of the mind and the social being through Kumbha/  Aquarius and this coinciding with Śanivāra/ Shanivara/ Saturday. There is too much Vāta/ air and the benefits of the Venus transit will not be too much in evidence on Saturday. On the contrary, people with windy complaints may have a difficult time due to too much Śani and Rāhu.

The populace can generally aim for Ravivāra/ Ravivara/ Sunday and more properly Somavāra/ Somavara/ Monday for this since the Moon/ Cañdra/ Chandra transits to the Jala Tattwa/ Water element dominated Mīna/ Meena/ Pisces only at about 7:30 PM on Sunday, the 5th of May, 2013.

A BRIEF LOOK AT THE TWELVE LAGNAS/ ASCENDANTS IN VEDIC ASTROLOGY

People are often curious at the beginning of their astrological quest, to know something of the various facets pertaining to their ‘chart’; in other words, they wish to evaluate the basic propensities pertaining to their Lagnas and their Rashi/ Lagna Kundalis (Kundalis). Also, the Chandra Lagna itself and Gochar furnish other popular areas of curiosity. Lagna is the sign rising on the Eastern horizon at the time of birth and is occupied by a Rāśi (Rashi)/ Vedic sign. The average duration of a sign rising in the Lagna/ Ascendant is two hours and for this reason the twelve Rāśis cover the twenty-four hours duration of the solar day. ( Basic Jyotiṣa principles can be accessed by clicking this link ) Lagna imbues a person with individuality and therefore denotes the self and the personality of the person. It is the first house or Bhāva of the chart and is the commencement point of any horoscopic study. We cannot forget that in all the divisional charts as well there is a Lagna/ asc

Vedic Astrology: The Charakaraka Replacement and Its Impact

At its deepest core Jyotiṣa is at the driving centre of all Karma. Just like life, if properly appreciated as it must, it has the status of a full-scale on-going project of immense magnitude. Karma and Soul : The Lagna and the Bhavas reckoned from the Lagna in the Rāśi Chakra indicate the physical manifestation of life. In the Varga Chakra the Lagna and the Bhāvas indicate the personality and realities of that specific environment. When we speak of Karma we inevitably speak of the soul as it is the soul which must carry and exhaust the Karma through rebirth. Charakāraka - Matters pertaining to the soul are studied and deciphered through the Charakāraka in Vedic Astrology. The Charakāraka are the temporal significators (Naisargika Kāraka) for various matters at the level of the soul and the Karma. The Charakāraka are decided on the basis of longitude of arc traversed by the planets including minutes and seconds of arc, and sometimes fractions of seconds of arc. The Eight Cha

Yanavanta/ Annapurna/ Vahana Yoga of Venus and Moon in Scorpio-8th October, 2013

The Yānavaṅta/ Yanavanta/ Annapūrṇā/ Annapurna/ Vāhana/ Vahana Yoga is formed when Venus and Moon/ Śukra and Cañdra/ Shukra and Chandra associate to form a Yoga in the Vedic horoscope; by Vedic horoscope is meant the Rāśi Cakra/ Rashi Chakra and the Varga Chakra as well, the latter being the divisional charts governing specific areas of life such as marriage (Navāmśa/ Navamsha), career (Daśāmśa/ Dashamsha), children (Saptāmśa/ Saptamsha), parents and elders (Dwādaśāmśa/ Dwadashamsha), comforts and luxuries (Ṣodaśāmśa/ Shodashamsha), spirituality and worship (Vimśāmśa/ Vimshamsha), education (Siddhāmśa/ Siddhamsha) etc. Let us consider the immediate meanings of the various terms used to indicate the Yoga formed due to the association of Venus and the Moon. The term Yānavaṅta/ Yanavanta indicates the charioteer or one guiding the vehicle of humanity or a group or individuals. It indicates leadership and the capacity to show the way to the multitudes and to guide and mould their live
